A New Porch!

BEFORE...

Splashes of yellow...courtesy of the great pumpkin!

We hired our great neighbor Nolan to do this project.
He started it in August...
And then waited patiently while we worked out removing the porch.

This space to the right of our porch is so weird.
We haven't known what to do with it.
So we decided to build the porch/deck to include this space.

I didn't get any pictures of the TOOLS but I definitely heard a saw!
As soon as we removed the porch Nolan got back to work and I just LOVE the way it turned out!

AFTER...

Now I get to stain it and paint the front door...as soon as the weather improves.

I guess I did get a picture of 1 tool...back there in the corner are the lights Nolan used while he worked in the dark.

D says Times have changed and there generally is not enough outside work or heavy chores to provide a boy with enough responsibility. So it's all right for a boy to do any type of work around the home. I do believe, however, that the heavier jobs should be his first responsibility. But good work habits, dependability, careful and wise use of time, and thoroughness can be learned whether through milking cows or doing the dishes.

Maybe I'll have my boys do the "outside work" of staining the deck.

  2. So, outside your living room bay window is a brick wall?? How odd is that?? The new porch looks wonderful, and yes... get the men to do the staining!
