Homemade Laundry Detergent

BEFORE...

I've been wanting to try and make my own laundry detergent.
I have a "recipe" that is supposed to work better than store bought detergent and for a fraction of the cost.

THE TOOL
and
THE INGREDIENTS

THE PROCEDURE/"RECIPE"
1 Bar Ivory Soap
1 Bar Fels-Naptha Soap
Borax
Washing Soda
Baking Soda (if you have hard water)
1. Grate 1 bar of each soap
2. Add 1/2 cup borax (can add 1 cup due to hard water)
3. Add 1/2 cup washing soda--also add 1 cup baking soda if you have hard water
4. Mix thoroughly in a blender
5. Pour into container with lid
6. Use 1 Tablespoon per load

I made 5 batches and it took no time at all.
AFTER...

This ends up costing just a few cents a load.
I'll let you know how it works!

Like most of you, my week is full of Thanksgiving preparations.
D says The traditions which accompany Thanksgiving are the most typical of our nation. An old-fashioned turkey dinner complete with everything including the pumpkin pie, and all the family present, from Grandmother to the tiniest newcomer, should be an annual event in every one's life.

I have a confession to make.
I am 38 years and 11 months old and I have never, not ever, cooked a whole turkey.
So this week, I'm going to buck up and cook a turkey--so tune in Wednesday for that long over-due project.

  1. I've been making my own laundry soap, similar to yours but different. Mine is liquid. I love it. Dirt cheap and it cleans as well as the others.
