The Sweet Bread Project

We all know this is not a baking blog but today is an exception!
I have this sweet bread I make from a mix.
It is amazing.
I love it.
It also costs a small fortune.
So I have been on a mission to find a recipe that tastes just as good.

THE TOOLS

THE INGREDIENTS

Despite what you may think, all cinnamons are not created equal.
You must try Saigon Cinnamon!!

I basically combined 3 different recipes and gave it my own twist.

THE OUTCOME
Delicious!

I am done buying the sweet bread mix...I will make it from scratch from here out.

Here's the recipe for anyone who may want to try it.
(I'm feeling real happy about this so if you don't like it, don't tell me, I don't want to know)

BECKY'S SWEET BREAD

2 1/3 cup flour
1 large package vanilla pudding (5.1 oz pkg)
2 cups sugar
1 tsp salt
4 tsp Saigon cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 cups oil
4 eggs
1/2 cup milk
3 cups frozen or fresh strawberries, raspberries, or mixed berries

1. Stir all dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Then add the oil, eggs, milk and berries. Mix well.
2. Pour batter evenly into 3 med or 2 large greased and floured loaf pans.
3. Bake @ 350 for 1 hour (check at 50 min)

If you want the bread to be even MORE amazing make this spread to put on it...

BECKY'S SWEET BREAD SPREAD

4 oz softened cream cheese
4 oz cool whip
2 TBSP packed brown sugar
1 tsp Saigon cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves

Mix well and refrigerate for an hour.
This is also great for dipping fruit!

D gives us a few baking tips...

Brush the top of your pie crust with milk before placing it in the oven and the crust will turn a golden brown.
Before frosting a cake, glaze it with a thin paste of powdered sugar and water to prevent crumbs getting into the frosting.
For a neat cake plate, cover the edge of the plate with triangular shaped pieces of waxed paper and then place the cake on the plate and frost it. After the cake is frosted, carefully pull the papers away.

Well, wasn't that fun!
Tomorrow, it's back to more boring blinds.

  1. I tell ya, vanilla pudding is the key. I put it in my cinnamon roll dough and it comes out smooth and soft... like Cinnabon!
